Detailed info
“This German estate, Geheimer Rat Dr. von Basserman-Jordan as it is nicknamed, is a pillar of Palatinate wine quality, from its origins (early 19th century) to today. In a sea of Liebfraumilch and sweet German wine of the 80s and 90s, this weingut continued to produce quality dry wines, from villages to crus, in a spirit of soil expression. This Pinot Blanc (‘Weissburgunder’ in German) comes from a single village (Ruppertsberg) and is perfectly dry (‘Trocken’). It is a light-bodied, unoaked white wine, with a slightly coating texture, of moderate aromatic expression (where we nevertheless detect lemony, herbaceous, mineral aromas and noble vegetal aromas). Think of it when the time comes to serve these beautiful seasonal asparagus with Grenoble sauce, or even fiddleheads…”
